Friend of God
Today's Scripture
"And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend." (James 2:23, NIV)
The all-knowing, all-powerful Creator of the universe wants to be your friend today. That's why He created you--first and foremost--to have a loving relationship with you. It's as simple as opening your heart to Him.
If you have faith in God today, then just like Abraham, you are God's friend. The Bible says that God is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. That means He is faithful. He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He is with you always. He is mindful of you--that means He is always thinking of you.
What an honor and privilege it is to be called God's friend! Let that sink down into your heart today. The next time the enemy tries to tell you that you are alone in this world, or that no one else understands what you are going through, just say out loud, "I am a friend of God."

"Heavenly Father, thank You for being my friend today. Thank You for loving me and for being faithful to me. Help me to understand Your friendship today so that I can be a better friend to those around me. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Blessed in the Dark Places
Today's Scripture
"...Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us..." (Ephesians 3:20, NIV)
Have you adapted to a limited environment? You have big dreams in your heart. You know there's a new business in you, a management position, a book, a better house, but you've gone as far as your family members and friends have gone in the past. No, don't settle there.
There is potential in you right now just waiting to come out. You have gifts that will cause new doors to open, talent that will bring new opportunities. Quit making excuses to settle where you are. You may be in a limited environment that includes dysfunction, addictions, and depression. The good news is, you don't have to stay there.
God is saying, "This is a new day. You're a barrier breaker. I'm going to take you further faster than you've imagined. You're going to defy the odds." Now do your part. Let this seed take root in your spirit. Don't talk yourself out of it. Get in agreement with God.

How High You Can Go
Today's Scripture
"But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great." (Luke 6:35, NIV)
We all have people who have done us wrong. It's easy to hold on to the hurt, to be vindictive and try to pay them back. One test we have to pass is to not only forgive people, but to be good to those who have not been good to us.
When they betrayed you, when they left you out, when they said things that weren't true, that put you at a disadvantage. It wasn't fair, but God is a God of justice and will turn the tables at some point. You'll be up, and they'll be down. When you're in a position of power, the real test of how high you can go is what you do to people who hurt you.
Jesus says, "When somebody takes your shirt, give them your coat too." That's a test. That's God seeing if you're ready to be promoted. When God can trust you to handle favor, influence, and power without using it to be vindictive, He can take you to new levels.

"Father, thank You that You have been so merciful, loving, and forgiving of me, and thank You that You are working in my life to make me more like You. Help me to forgive, to love, and to be good to those who have done wrong to me. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Through the Storm
Today's Scripture
Then he asked them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith? (Mark 4:40, NLT)
In Mark 4, Jesus said to His disciples, "Let's go to the other side of the lake," but along the way they were caught in a furious night storm. The winds were so strong that the disciples thought the boat was going to capsize, so they woke Jesus up. He rebuked the storm, and everything calmed down.
When we're in a storm, we often get upset and panic as the disciples did. "God, You have to help! This medical report is bad. My finances aren't making it. My relationship is falling apart." Quit being upset and losing sleep over your troubles. God knew there would be a storm before He told the disciples to go over the lake. When He puts a promise in your heart, all the forces of darkness cannot stop Him from getting you there. God is not ignoring your prayers. You don't have to wake Him up. He's teaching you to have faith in the middle of the storm.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that You are not just the God of the start of my storm, not just the God of my finish, but You're also the God of the middle. Thank You that You are here to protect me and provide for me. I believe You will still my storms. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Ignore the Roar
Today's Scripture
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8, NKJV)
Anytime we try to move forward, thoughts will come telling us what we can't do, how the problem is too big. We know what God promised, we believe it in our heart, but the enemy comes like a roaring lion, bombarding our mind with doubts. The purpose of a lion's roar is to intimidate any opponent, to strike fear and terror, so much so that it will paralyze the other animal and get it to back down.
In the same way, our enemy loves to roar in our thoughts. "You'll never get well. You'll never break the addiction. You don't have any talent." How you handle the roar will determine whether or not you reach your destiny. If you believe the lies and let the fear take root, it will keep you from seeing the promise.
You have to learn to ignore the roar. He goes about "like" a roaring lion--he's not a lion, and he doesn't have any power over you. The only power he has is the power you give him by believing the roar.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that when the enemy is roaring, bombarding my thoughts with doubts and fears, that I can resist him, firm in the faith. Thank You that he does not have any power over me. I declare that I will not be intimidated into backing down, and I will not believe the roar. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Use the Gift
Today's Scripture
"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8, NIV)
Have you ever received a gift card that you stored in a special place for so long that you forgot you had it? Most of them have an expiration date, and if you don't use it, you will surely lose it!
The same is true with the Word of God. No, the Word doesn't ever expire, but we have to take action and use His Word in order to receive His promises. Just like you exchange your gift card for the things you need at the store, His Word gives you the power to receive every promise He has for you.
As today's verse tells us, when you declare His Word and keep your heart and mind open to Him, you are using the gift. You are opening the door for Him to move in your life. For example, if you're facing lack in any area, receive the gift of provision by declaring, "My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). If there's a mountain in your way, receive the gift of victory that says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"(Philippians 4:13).
Today and every day, use the gift He's given you. Make His Word a priority and don't let it depart from your mouth. As you do, He'll make your way prosperous, and you'll enjoy the abundant life He has for you!

Without the Betrayal
Today's Scripture
Jesus said to Judas, "Friend, do what you came for." (Matthew 26:50, AMP)
When Judas betrayed and tried to stop Jesus, it seemed like a bad break. But Jesus had known that Judas was going to betray Him, and He hadn't tried to stop him. Jesus understood that betrayal was a part of His destiny.
Had Judas not betrayed Him, there wouldn't have been a crucifixion, and without the cross there wouldn't have been a resurrection, and without a resurrection we wouldn't have redemption. The man who sold Jesus out for thirty pieces of silver was critical to His destiny.
What am I saying? Don't complain about that person who betrayed you. If they walked away, they didn't set you back; they set you up. If that had not happened, you wouldn't get to where you're supposed to be. If they tried to push you down and lied about you, it may not have been fair, but nothing happens by accident.
If God allowed it, He knows how to use it for your good.

"Father, thank You for Your promise that You can take the things that are meant to harm me and use them for my good. I receive this word and choose to remain at rest and not complain. It may not feel good, but I declare that it is all good. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

The God of the Breakthrough
Today's Scripture
"The LORD did it!" David exclaimed. "He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!" So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means "the Lord who bursts through"). (2 Samuel 5:20, NLT)
When David was about to step into the fullness of his destiny as the anointed king over all Judah and Israel, he found himself at the Valley of Rephaim, which means "giants." Many years earlier, he had killed Goliath in that valley. But now he not only faced one Goliath, he faced a valley of Goliaths.
The principle is that the closer you are to your destiny, the greater the opposition. When you overcome one challenge, don't be surprised if you face a bigger challenge. That means you're getting closer to your destiny.
David and his men went out full of faith and defeated the Philistines, then he renamed the valley of giants Baal-perazim, which means "the God of the breakthrough." When you face the valley of debt, struggle, and lack, rename it the valley of abundance, promotion, and increase. Rename the valley of sickness the valley of health and wholeness. God will turn every valley you face into a valley of victory.

Faith in the Middle
Today's Scripture
"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you." (1 Peter 4:12, NKJV)
It's easy to have faith at the start--when your baby is born, or you marry that beautiful girl, or you start a business, it's exciting. It's also easy to have faith at the end--when you can see the finish line, you've fought the good fight, and now the dream is in sight. The challenge is having faith in the middle--when it's taking longer than you thought, when you don't have the funds, and when it's dark and difficult. In the middle is where most people are tempted to give up.
But God never promised that we would reach our destiny without opposition, without disappointments, without things we don't understand. Instead He says not to think it strange when these things come against us. That means to not get upset because somebody did you wrong, or because the business slowed, or because your child takes a wrong turn. God is still on the throne. Stay in faith. What He promised you, He will still bring to pass.

"Father, thank You that Your Word lights my way and tells me to be ready for trials of my faith. Even when life is difficult and dark, I choose to trust in You and believe that You are working behind the scenes for my good. I will have faith for the middle. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Don't Be Snared by Your Words
Today's Scripture
"...You are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth..." (Proverbs 6:2, NKJV)
To be snared means "to be trapped." Your words can trap you. What you say can cause you to stumble and keep you from your potential.
You're not snared by what you think. Negative thoughts come to us all. But when you speak them out, you give them life.
If you say, "I'll never get back in shape," it becomes more difficult. If you say, "I'm not that talented. I don't have a good personality," that is calling in mediocrity. It's setting the limits for your life.
When negative thoughts come, the key is to never verbalize them. That thought will die stillborn if you don't speak it.
In the tough times, it's very tempting to vent your frustrations. When you continually talk about the problem, you're making it bigger. Turn it around and talk about the promise. Let your report be: "God is supplying all my needs. It may look impossible on paper, but with God, all things are possible."

"Father, thank You that I do not have to keep being snared by the words of my mouth. I choose to not focus on or talk about negative circumstances and problems but on Your faithful promises. Help me to keep speaking the right things. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Seek First
Today's Scripture
"In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you..." (Isaiah 26:9, NLT)
Jesus said in Matthew 6, "Seek first the kingdom of God."
That word "seek" is a strong word. One definition is "to require as a vital necessity." You have to see spending time with God as being vital to living a victorious life.
When things get busy, the children need you, it's hectic at the office, or you've got a thousand things to do, you've got to put your foot down and say, "No, this is not an option. If I'm going to be strong, if I'm going to be my best today, if I'm going to have God's favor, I've got to rearrange my priorities so I can spend time with God."
You may have to get up earlier--before the children need you, before checking your emails, before the phone starts ringing. Take time to invest in your spiritual well-being. We feed our physical body at least three meals a day, but often we feed our spirit just once a week at church.
We wonder why we feel burned out, unenthusiastic, and lack favor, wisdom and creativity. It's because we're not taking time to get filled back up. Just like we feed our physical man, we need to feed our spiritual man. When you invest in your spiritual well-being, it will pay huge dividends in your life.

Right this Way!
Today's Scripture
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way." (Psalm 37:23, KJV)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord!
Many people today might find it difficult to see themselves as "good" in the eyes of God, but did you know that in the original Greek, this word means "strong" like a warrior?
In other words, when you stand strong, when you are willing to fight the good fight of faith, you are giving God something to work with. He is ordering your steps. He's making a way when there seems to be no way. He's clearing a path for you, and He is delighting in you.
That means He is pleased with your attitude of courage. He is pleased that you are taking a stand for what is right. He is pleased that you are putting Him first place and relying completely on Him.
Remember, God loves your passion for Him. He loves it when you come boldly to His throne of grace. He is honored when you stand and fight the good fight of faith. If you are facing difficulty today, know that God wants to lift you up and give you His strength. Receive it by faith today.
Dig your heels in knowing that He is ordering your steps; and when God is leading you, He's always leading you in the path of victory!

Growing Strong In Faith
Today's Scripture
"No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God�" (Romans 4:20, ESV)
In the Scripture, Abraham's circumstances were beyond his control. God promised him that he would have a son, but both he and Sarah were way too old to have a child. What did he do while he was waiting?
"He grew strong in faith by giving praise to God." He got up every morning and said, "Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You that my baby is on its way. Thank You that You are faithful to Your Word." He kept thanking God for what he heard in his spirit, and eventually, the promise came to pass."
As with Abraham, God has put dreams in your heart. He has spoken promises over you. Deep down you believe it will happen, but in the natural, it looks impossible. The odds are against you. It's been so long.
No, God is saying, "What I started in your life I will finish." The key is to follow Abraham's example and praise God while you wait. That's one way to grow in faith. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep expecting. Grow strong in faith and see His promises fulfilled in every area of your life!"

Your Record Is Cleared
Today's Scripture
"Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin." (Romans 4:8, NLT)
Don't go through life beating yourself up, thinking about everything you've done wrong, dwelling on your mistakes and failures. When you make a mistake, go to God and ask for forgiveness, then move on. Don't keep bringing up the same failures.
The first time you asked, God not only forgave you, but He doesn't remember it any more. When you ask Him to forgive you again for the same thing, God says, "What are you talking about? I have no record of that."
When God forgave you, He deleted your files. He doesn't have a big server up in heaven where He's keeping a backup copy just in case He changes His mind. Today's Scripture says He has cleared your record.
How long are you going to let the accuser keep you feeling guilty and condemned? My declaration is "no more." This is a new day. Enter into the joy of knowing that you are a child of the Most High God and your record is clear--no judgment, no condemnation.

"Father, thank You that You are the Most High God who has cleared my record of sin and deleted my files. Thank You that You're not counting my sins against me and that I am covered by Your mercy. I declare that I am free from all guilt and condemnation. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Faith and Honor
Today's Scripture
"Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.' He could not do any miracles there�He was amazed at their lack of faith."" (Mark 6:4�6, NIV)
Did you know that honor and faith work together? When Jesus walked the earth, the people in His own hometown couldn't believe that He was the Son of God because they were too familiar with Him. They didn't honor Him, which affected their ability to have faith in Him.
When you honor the Lord, when you respect and make room for Him in your life by following the Word of God, it impacts your faith in Him. Part of honoring the Lord is honoring the people He's placed in your life. God works through people, and the Bible says that the way you treat others is the way you treat Him.
Choose to honor people and make room for the Lord to work in your life today. Look for the greatness in the people around you: your spouse, your children, your friends and family. Treat others with respect, knowing that God is building His character in you. As you choose honor, you open the door for faith to grow. You'll see God's hand working in your life, and you will see His hand of blessing on everything you do!

Receive Grace
Today's Scripture
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you" (Jeremiah 1:5, ESV)
You are approved by Almighty God! When He created you in His image, He stepped back and stamped His "Made by Almighty God" approval on you. You are the apple of His eye, and His favor surrounds you like a shield. You did not choose God, but He chose you and He is pleased with you--His most precious creation.
Notice that verse doesn't say that God approves you as long as you don't have any faults or as long as you don't make any mistakes. No, God approves you unconditionally. No matter how many weaknesses you may think you have today, no matter how many times you fall, you've got to get right back up again and hold your head high.
Don't allow the enemy to bring strife into your life by deceiving you into thinking that you are not "good enough." Stand strong in your thoughts about yourself, knowing that not only have you been chosen, but you are approved by Almighty God.

Use What You Have
Today's Scripture
"...Then the LORD asked Moses, "Who makes a person's mouth?... Is it not I, the LORD?." (Exodus 4:11, NLT)
When God told Moses to go and tell Pharaoh, "Let My people go," Moses said, "God, I can't do that. I don't speak well. I stutter." Moses was saying, "God, I don't have what it takes. You didn't give me that gift. I'm afraid."
He kept making excuse after excuse until the Scripture says, "God became angry with Moses." He was angry because Moses saw his gift as not enough. He's displeased when we're not using what He's given us, when we're making excuses, discounting our gifts. God said to Moses, "Who made your tongue?" He was saying, "Moses, I created the universe. I flung stars into space. You didn't get shortchanged. You're not lacking anything."
God would not ask you to do something if He hadn't already given you what you need. Quit saying, "If I was as gifted or good looking as they are, I could do something great." No, take the talent you have and develop it. If you'll use what you have, God will give you more.

"Father, thank You for the gifts and the talents You put in me. Thank You that I don't have to have what I think is a big gift for You to use me in a great way. I will be faithful to develop what You've given me and trust You to give me more as I increase it. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

It's Already Lined Up
Today's Scripture
"For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?" (Isaiah 14:27, NKJV)
God is not only strategically directing your steps today, He's orchestrating everything around you. He's already lined up people who will help lead you to your blessing, lead you to your promotion, and lead you to your next level. They will go out of their way to show you favor. You don't have to try to manipulate people, force doors to open, or convince someone to be good to you. He's already prepared the hearts of the people He has ordained to help you and has the blessings waiting for you.
Isaiah was saying, "Who can stop what God has already set up?" Quit worrying about who doesn't like you, how big your obstacles are, or why you can't accomplish your dreams. It's already set up; you're right on schedule. No person, no bad break, and no addiction can stop what God has ordained. If you keep honoring God, being your best, what God has set up will find you. You won't have to go after it; it will come after you.

Testing Your Character
Today's Scripture
"Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph's character." (Psalm 105:19, NLT)
Before your dream comes to pass, God will test your character. You have to prove that you can handle what He's entrusted you with. God gave Joseph a dream that he would be in leadership, but his brothers took away his coat of many colors that represented his father's favor and sold him into slavery in Egypt, where he was falsely accused and put in prison.
These weren't just random bad breaks; God was testing his character. It wasn't fair, but Joseph didn't get bitter. He kept passing the test. His brothers took his robe, but they couldn't take his favor. They took his freedom, but they couldn't take his anointing. They took him from his home, but they couldn't take his dream. All these steps prepared him to become the prime minister of Egypt.
Be a Joseph. Do the right thing when it's hard. That difficulty is not there to stop you, it's there to prepare you. Keep passing the test. God is about to release you into a new level of favor, influence, and resources.

"Father, thank You for loving me so much that You work to refine my character and bring me up higher. Thank You for the training and preparation process that You are taking me through even now. I believe that I will pass the tests and get to where You are taking me. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Turn On the Power
Today's Scripture
"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16, NKJV)
The word "fervent" in the original language is where we get our word for "energy." It suggests the idea of it being energizing, like how electricity energizes a circuit. You can plug a light into the outlet, but if the power is not on, it's not going to do any good.
Today's Scripture says the effective, fervent prayer--not a weak prayer, not a lethargic prayer, not the same prayer repeated daily with no passion. But when you pray a passionate prayer, a stirred-up prayer, a bold prayer, that makes tremendous power available.
"God, I know I don't deserve it, but if You want to, You can help me." You're not energizing the circuit with that prayer. Depressed prayers don't bring any power. Turn it around.
"Father, thank You that You're opening doors no man can shut. Thank You that You're bringing me into overflow and taking me where I can't go on my own." That prayer is an effective, fervent, passionate, courage-filled prayer. Turn on the power.

"Father, thank You for the power that comes when I pray to You with fervency and passion. Teach me to be effective in prayer that brings wonderful results. I believe that my prayers come before Your throne, that You're listening, and that You're acting on them. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Toughen Up
Today's Scripture
"These are the nations that the LORD left in the land to test those Israelites who had not experienced the wars of Canaan. He did this to teach warfare to generations of Israelites who had no experience in battle." (Judges 3:1-2, NLT)
After Joshua died, the Israelites were settled in the Promised Land, living their dream. God could have had Joshua and the previous generation drive out all the opposing enemy nations, but He purposefully left some nations there to teach them warfare. Without this problem, the new generation of Israelites would have eventually faced armies and been defeated. They didn't have the experience, the strength, or the fortitude to overcome. God had to toughen them up. He left obstacles on purpose.
If God made everything easy for us, we wouldn't be ready for where we're going. God has amazing things in your future, things you've never imagined, but to get there you're going to have to defeat some powerful giants, overcome some big obstacles, and outlast some formidable opposition. It's not going to happen if you're weak, disappointed, and bitter.
Instead of complaining about what's not turning around, see it as an opportunity to develop your faith. Don't just go through it, grow through it. God's getting you prepared. It's serving His plan.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that You purposefully allow obstacles and problems to come against me for my own good. Thank You that You are building strength and fortitude in me to prepare me for the future. I believe that it is serving Your plan as I walk through it and grow through it. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Remember and Expect
Today's Scripture
"Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds." (Psalm 77:10-12, NIV)
Are you facing challenges today that look too big? Do your dreams seem impossible? Instead of going around discouraged and thinking it's never going to work out, start dwelling on your victories.
The key to staying encouraged so you can see God open new doors and turn negative situations around is to never forget what He has done. Every one of us can look back and see the hand of God on our lives.
Start remembering how far God has brought you. God has opened doors that should have never opened for you, just as He did for the Israelites. He's helped you accomplish things you never could have accomplished on your own. He's brought you out of difficulties that you thought you'd never survive.
Rehearse all the times He's protected you, given you promotions, healed your family members, and put you in the right places with the right people.
Expect breakthroughs. Expect problems to turn around. Expect to rise to new levels. If you raise your level of expectancy, God will take you places you've never dreamed.

"Father, thank You for all the amazing things You've done in my life, for the victories You've helped me win, for the restoration, the vindication, and the favor You've shown. Help me to remember the doors You've opened for me and for the times You've protected, promoted, and given me opportunities. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

A Prized Possession
Today's Scripture
"The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession." (Deuteronomy 7:6, NIV)
God's creation is filled with magnificent scenes and things, but He says you are His most prized possession. Don't go around feeling wrong about yourself. Quit letting your thoughts tell you that you're ordinary. Quit wishing you were taller, or had a better personality, or looked like somebody else. God went to great lengths to make you exactly as He wanted. You have what you need to fulfill your destiny. When God created you in His own image, He stepped back and stamped His approval on you.
Somewhere on you, there's a tag that states, "Made by Almighty God." So put your shoulders back and hold your head high. You are extremely valuable. When those thoughts come telling you everything that you're not, remind yourself, "I have the fingerprints of God all over me--the way I look, the way I smile, my gifts, my personality. I know I am not average. I am a masterpiece." Those are the thoughts that should be playing in our mind all day long.

"Father, thank You that You created me as a masterpiece, down to the smallest detail of what I need to fulfill my destiny. Thank You that I am Your prized possession and that I have Your fingerprints all over me. I believe that I am made in Your image and have Your approval. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

His Name is the Key
Today's Scripture
"But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:11, NLT)
Something supernatural happens on the inside of you when you call on the name of the Lord.
First of all, the Bible tells us that God actually makes His home in your heart by the Holy Spirit. Not only that, but when you call on His name, you are calling on everything He represents--life, peace, strength, hope, joy, healing, deliverance, forgiveness and so much more! It's like receiving the key to a mansion filled with treasures--and it's all yours!
You can see that key in your hand; you can tell other people about it; you can know that you have access anytime you want, but you still have to take a step and use the key to open the door before you can partake of the blessings inside. And you probably wouldn't just peak in the door or visit once a week; no, move right in!
Make the decision today to move into God's abundant blessings by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus. Call on His name and move right in to His provision, His joy, His peace, His love. You have the key, so receive the abundant life He has prepared for you today!

Be an Esau
Today's Scripture
"Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept." (Genesis 33:4, NIV)
As a boy, Joseph saw his uncle, Esau, forgive his father, Jacob, for stealing his birthright. After years of being estranged and angry, Esau's very public forgiveness was an incredible act of kindness, an incredible show of mercy. Fast forward many years to the scene in Genesis 45 where Joseph, now the prime minister of Egypt, forgives his brothers for selling him into slavery and years in prison.
He could have gotten revenge, but noticed what got passed down to him from Esau--mercy, forgiveness, and kindness. What made the difference was that Esau started a blessing and modeled love and forgiveness for his family, children, and his nephews.
You may have a good reason to live offended, angry, dysfunctional. It's what you've seen modeled, or somebody did you wrong. You can be an Esau. You can set your family on a new course. The decisions you make will affect generations to come. It just needs someone to start a blessing, to start forgiveness, to start freedom, to start excellence. Why don't you let that be you?

"Father, thank You for all of the times when You have loved me and forgiven me when I deserved neither. Help me to be forgiving, merciful, and kind to those who have done wrong to me. I want to start a blessing and be a model of Your love for my family. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Mountains to Molehills
Today's Scripture
"So, big mountain, who do you think you are? Next to Zerubbabel you're nothing but a molehill. He'll proceed to set the Cornerstone in place, accompanied by cheers: Yes! Yes! Do it!" (Zechariah 4:7, MSG)
God put a dream in Zerubbabel to rebuild the destroyed temple in Jerusalem, but people were against him and got a decree from the Persian king that forced him to stop. For years it looked like it would never happen, but then he heard the prophecy in today's Scripture. He was saying, "I have this big mountain in front of me, but it's about to become a molehill."
How would it happen? Other translations say by shouting "Grace to it." Another word for "grace" is "favor." He was saying, "Yes, this obstacle is big, but I have the favor of God to overcome and finish this project." He didn't talk about his mountain. He talked to his molehill.
When you face challenges, speak favor over them. Look at your bank account and speak favor to it. Speak favor over your health. Speak favor over your promotion. It's not enough to just pray about it or just believe. What's going to turn the mountain into a molehill is by speaking grace to it.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that no matter how big the mountain of obstacles is, I have Your favor to overcome it. Thank You that favor is making my crooked places straight and defeating what comes against me. I will speak grace to my mountains and see them turn into molehills. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Walk on Water
Today's Scripture
But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted. (Matthew 14:30, NLT)
In the darkness of night, Jesus came walking to His disciples across the stormy sea. Based on His word to "come," Peter had the courage to walk on the water to Jesus. Imagine how amazed Peter was as he took step after step, looking at Jesus, doing the impossible. As long as Peter focused on what Jesus said, he was fine. But when he started focusing on what he saw, he began to doubt and sink.
It's the same principle in life. If you stay focused on what you see, you can get talked out of your dreams. If you're focused on how the medical report is not good or how you'll never get out of debt, you'll be limited. You have to stay focused on what God says. When you focus on what He promises, you'll walk on water. You'll go places you couldn't go on your own. You'll overcome obstacles that are much bigger. The winds and waves are a test. Don't get distracted and start focusing on the negative.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You that the strong winds and waves of my life are not a problem for You. Thank You that You walk on water and call me to step out of my boat and walk with You. I trust Your leading in my life and declare that You are taking me where I couldn't go on my own. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Not One Word Has Failed
Today's Scripture
"Praise the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses." (1 Kings 8:56, NLT)
We all face situations that look like they'll never change. We have bigger things in our spirit, and we know what God promised, but it seems like we've reached our limit in our career. Our bank account says we're stuck. When we look at the medical report or at a broken relationship, there's no sign of it improving.
But the Scripture says, "The things we see now will soon be gone" (2 Cor. 4:18). What we see is subject to change according to what God promises in His Word. You can't be moved by what you see; you have to be moved by what you know He says.
Are you believing what you're seeing, or are you believing what you're reading in God's Word? What you see may be lack and struggle, but what God is speaking to you is abundance, healing, breakthroughs, and new levels.
Don't reduce what God's promised you to fit your faith. Stretch your faith and come up to His level. Every word He promises will come to pass.
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You for all the wonderful promises You have given to me in Your Word. Thank You that the things that I see today that are less than what You've promised are only temporary and subject to change. I believe You will fulfill every word You have spoken. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
