I bought an Xperia Mini st15i from him. My third time, I believe. He had the cheapest price at that time. I had known him to be a good seller. Less than a week after I got the unit, it exhibited a horrible defect described in this thread:
<click here for link> . I reported the incident to him.
The problem became persistent so we arranged to return the unit to him to claim the service warranty. Damn, I forgot that the replacement warranty is only within three days. After those three days I was at the mercy of fate that nothing bad would happen to my unit. Obviously fate was merciless.
On the day that I had to surrender the unit to him, I asked him if we could both present a photocopy of our valid IDs for security purposes. To my surprise, he refused vehemently making a lot of excuses. I could not think of any reason why he would refuse to do so especially when he did not give an OR during the purchase. I am a trusting person you see, so I just suggested that he signed a document containing a statement that I surrendered my unit to him for warranty claims.
He initially informed me that there might be something wrong with the digitizer/touchscreen so I might have to shell out Php 1000+. Wow. Additional expense on my part because my unit lacked SE Official Warranty. Ok I agreed.
I waited for weeks for an update from him. I believe that as the seller he has the responsibility to update his inconvenienced buyer for the status of his product ESPECIALLY if it is under warranty claims. But unfortunately, I would always be the one asking for an update.
After another week I asked for an update. Lo and behold! The damage discovered was on the board itself! That is supposed to merit an outright replacement right considering that the unit is less than a month old?! Yes he considered that but I had to shell out an amount depending on the unit that I would choose for replacement.
I bought the xperia mini because I wanted it. Logically I would opt for the same model as a replacement. Still I waited for another week until he informed me that a stock of the same model is available but I still had to pay Php 3000 since the unit now had an official SE Phils warranty.
I already bought an Xperia Ray you see and I was planning to sell the replacement unit that I would get even if I am at the losing end. I suggested that he just give me a cash refund (current cost of the model - Php 3000). So approximately I should be getting Php 6000+. But my oh my, he said that he is willing to give me only Php 3000. Why? Because he used his own "cost" to compute. If you are a sensible seller you could just have made adjustments. I did not want to experience much stress anymore. By the way, I was always calm whenever I would talk to him even if I wanted to explode and give him some expletives. So I added Php 3000 to end it all.
Why am I writing this? I just wanted to warn the potential buyers from this guy that they be careful in buying units without official manufacturer warranty from him. He is a good seller indeed but terrible in after-selling service.
