  • I'd rather buy a real camera.
  • ^+1M

    At that SRP, it's a no-brainer.
  • ^ i second the motion. para na lang sa mga walang magawa sa pera ang bibili nito.
  • Yup, you can buy a decent second hand dslr on that amount of money. Wherein you can experiment on different settings like iso, shutter speed etc.
  • 450 dollars is around 20k in pesos. Pwede na yan sa mga brand new entry level dslr like nikon and canon. Ok din if super zoom cameras, much cheaper.
  • Ganda nito! pero pano kung kailangan ng flash?
  • This might be useful kung e-mount sya na pwedeng ilagay sa NEX Cameras pero still why using your phone kung may dala ka ng DSLR? lol
  • Mukhang okay naman

  • ahh.. it is just not a lens.. cool in a way..
  • If you have the money to spend, this is really a cool accessory for your smartphone.
It's a lens that has its own power supply and smartphone dependent, connected thru wifi.
Your phone serves as a view finder and controls the lens.
Specs are pretty impressive for a wifi smartphone dependent lens.

    Verdict:
Cool, if you have money to spend. But buying a Nex camera is a wiser option.
If the price is a bit lower, much better.
  • Whoops, price is actually more expensive. The QX100 is tagged @ $499.

Anyway, some more additional info from the rumor site

Body material of the QX cameras is plastic. They have built-in Stereo Mic, Contrast Detection AF, Touchfocus AF (on smartphone), face detection. QX100 has 20.2 Megapixel and ISO 160-16000. QX10 has 18.2 Megapxiel and ISO 100-12,800, both with WiFi and NFC connectivity, tripod mount, FullHD, has microSD slot, shoots JPG (no RAW available), in lens stabilization, and you can control zoom, exposure, white balance, and focus on your mobile device.

With its high-end specs and a high price to match, Sony seems to be hoping that the QX100 user is the type of person who doesn't mind carrying two devices if together they'll do something unique - capture great images which are instantly sharable. There's no doubt that the QX100 packs a lot of technology inside it. However, controls are stripped down, there's no option to shoot Raw and basic settings like ISO are unavailable to the user. That's likely going to put off a lot of potential buyers. Raw shooting especially is a feature we think would greatly increase the appeal of the QX100 to an enthusiast crowd, so we hope Sony will consider adding it in a firmware update.

Consider that the QX100 also strips away a flash, AF assist lamp, manual focus aids and manual exposure control (you have aperture priority and exposure compensation but that's all) and it's hard to imagine the enthusiast shooter who would be better served by this camera rather than a full-fledged compact. Still, the achievement stands as one of the most interesting compact camera announcements of the year, and we're curious to see how it is received by consumers.

  • Correction, independent pala to..
  • WALANG FLASH! parin parang XZ Ultra.
parang hi-def portable spy camera :P
baka sa version 2 may flash na, at pwede na gamitin sa mas maraming android devices lalo na sa 7-10 inch tablets -- para mas malaking screen, mas maraming onscreen controls before and after taking the picture.
    nice idea anyway.
  • Baka naman pwede ang sync flash, hehe kaya lang mukha ka ng tanga non..
  • QX100 teardown.
