I'm using Globe lock Note 8.
I inserted my Smart postpaid sim in Sim 2, while the Sim 1 tray uses my GLobe sim. How do I change the default of data services to Sim 2 - smart? How do I change the signal of Smart SIM into 3G autoconnect so I could use it for my data? The Sim 2 option is greyed-out, so I cannot select it for Mobile data.
WIll appreciate your help.
@bladecutter_ph sabi ko na eh!!! Nung bago pa lang note 8 natin from globe, i remember pwede yung data sa sim 2!!! Tama ba pagka alala ko? Pero since im using my smart sa sim 2 as back up only, i mainly use my globe for calls/texts/data. Pero i know im not going senile, and nagamit ko din before yung data ng smart sa sim 2 before just to check! Pati yung Globe Samsung Note 5 before alam ko pwede yung data sa sim 2!
So when i went to japan last month, i was very much relying that i can use the data sim from JP to roam around. When i got the JP sim, inalis ko yung Smart sim and inserted the JP sim in sim 2, aba laking gulat ko, i cant change the "Network Mode" of sim 2! "2G only" yung option and its grayed out and you cant select it. Same is true when you go to "Acces Point Names". Mutntik ako mag panic, imagine gagala ka don ma walang google maps. Buti naalala ko dala ko yung samsung tab S na openline, and my sony ericsson xperia mini for my music player. I wasnt blaming my globe note 8 at first kasi sabi din ng nagbenta ng JP sim, it doesnt work for dual sim phones daw. Since nagagamit ko naman na yung data sim sa tablet and tether na lang sa phone ko, nagmamadali na ako oumabas ng airport to catch the train.
Pag bumabiyahe abroad, tip ng ibang pinoys, is to change the APN to something random. Para lang di mag connect yung data ng globe/smart overseas, and magulat ka na lang na na charge ka ng katakot takot na data roaming charges pag balik mo ng Pinas. So nasa train na ako, binalik ko na yung Smart sim ko sa sim 2, i wanted to change the APN of sim2, nagtataka ako bat di ko pa din ma access mga settings. Ang dami ko pang dapat pagka abalahan sa trip kaya hinayaan ko lang.
Nung nakabalik na ako ng Pinas, di ko pa rin ma edit, kahit na mag clear cache settings ako. Ayaw ko subukan mag factory data reset kasi daming naka save sa phones na apps passwords etc, ayaw ko ma hassle na mag reinstall. So tumawag ako kay globe and sabi nila, need na daw sa globe store kasi kailangan na nilang makita yung actual phone to check yung settings.
Since nasa hotline na din ako, nag request na din ako ng unlock code ng Samsung note 5 since tapos naman na contract ko last january 2018. Process daw nila and wait na lang daw ng response through text for the instructions. Post ko screenshot ng instructions, and kayo na nbahala mag husga. Abangan.....😪
Hayz sobra nakaka disappoint tong globe. Next time di na ako mag recontract sa kanila. Dati nung pwede pa data sa sim2, laking sulit since mas mura yung phones sa kanila. Pero kung gantong hassle din lang, i think much better to get direct from samsung na open line na. Magre reklamo na naman ba tayo sa NTC nito, hayz sayang oras na naman.
Napansin ko nung nag update ng software, don na nagka leche leche yung data settings ng sim2. Yung mga Smart issued Note 8 naka experience din ba ng ganto?
Di ko ma verify status ng Note 5 ko since napamana ko na siya sa pinsan ko. Sinend ko na lang SS sa kanya, and siya na bahala.

@Pryor I couldn't imagine the inconvenience you experience getting the SIM 2 to work and believing it worked for your Smart SIM before.
True - it worked for me on the first 2 weeks when I got my Note 8 from GLobe, and was wondering why the APN settings are already greyed out. It must have been due to the software update. But just last night, I seek help from a professional unlocker and he was able to unlock my Note 8 (online) using server unlock code and further changing network code CSC to XTC, hence reformatting the entire phone. It worked after. So I'm already using an openline Note 8, and regardless whether it's Sim 1 or 2, or just the Smart SIM, it recognizes the LTE network signal.
It's a pricey option though. I went to Greenhills last Friday and tried looking for unlocking services, they were charging 1300 to 1600, server code but very risky as they will have to reprogram your Note 8. It does work for first week -but no guarantee if it will still work after. So I came back frustrated as I don't want to entrust my Note 8 to any Greenhills tech programmer who changes stall by the way every 2 weeks. I reverted to the professional unlocker who does the job with a pricey tag, but highly reliable anyway. He already unlocked my S4 and Note 3 before.
By the way, I used to have S8 Plus (smart lock) but sold it last week after I found a big hassle maintaining two expensive gadgets in one hand!
Let me know if you want to try the professional unlocker.
To everyone using Globe issued units and would like to use another network's sim for data (working for Smart at least): you can change your phone's CSC.
1. Get your IMEI (*#06#) and note either one
2. Open your keypad and type *#272*IMEI# and choose SMA.
This will let you use both Globe and Smart Data sims on either tray. This will factory reset your device though.

Anyone here na nakaexperience ng oleophobic issue sa screen? Yung unit ko kasi meron spot na bilog na hindi na makintab, Just got mine last month lang from Globe. Gagana ba yung mga nano liquid to restore the oleophobic coating? Ayaw ko kasi dalhin sa service center, wala rin kasi ako time para madala dun eh. TIA.

I remember doing this on my Globe note 5 before, but i remember different yung mga options. All that time, kala ko talaga we're free to edit all data settings on sim2 without having to do that *#272, kasi pwede naman talaga when we got the phone for the first time. and i remember that the phone would be reset kaya i didnt even want to bother.
additional info to help others too... For my Globe Note 8, I used sim 1's IMEI, as nothing happens when you use sim 2's IMEI. as what jpatrick_tio said, find "SMA", then choose "Install", you would be give 2 choices, "SALES CODE CHANGE" and "NETWORK CODE CHANGE". Choose SALES CODE CHANGE
I tried changing to XTC, since i think it's for the "Unlocked" phones, pero it doesn't work and humihingi ng unlock code. Just don't forget to backup with smartswitch para less hassle restoring your files.
Tanong lang, so what's the difference between the *#272 method VS paying technicians to unlock it for you? is there a chance that the phone will be locked again after future software updates?

@jhay_m I posted my screen issue when I got my Note 8 with Globe last October/November. Please back read to page 4, I even posted a picture with the cosmetic defect. Na high blood at nakipag away talaga ako sa Globe tapos sa Samsung Service Center, for them to admit that such cosmetic defects are not acceptable for such an expensive phone, lalo na wala pang isang linggo yung phone sa akin. I demanded that they replace the unit since nasa 7 days outright replacement warranty pa ako. I do hope tanggapin pa yan for replacement and hindi repair/screen replacement lang gagawin sa phone mo.

Pero sa ngayon mukhang malabo na palitan ni Globe ang unit ko since lagpas na rin sa 7 days replacement warranty unit ko :(. Medyo late ko na rin napansin na may issue sa screen ko since I was using a screen protector. Mukhang repair na lang ang gagawin ng service center dito.
May pahabol na question nga po pala ko. Nakakaapekto po ba ang pagpunas ng micro fibre cloth na may alcohol sa oleophobic coating sa screen naten? TIA.

@jhay_m I don't think so, cosmetic defect na ata talaga yan simulat simula pa. Wala akong nagustuhang screen protector when i first got the phone. come to think of it, it's a good thing di ko nilagyan nung kakakuha ko pa lang. Di ko na siguro napansin yung defect, and isipin ko baka yung screen protector lang ang problema. Usually sa left pocket ko lang nilalagay with no other things. Nakonsensiya pa nga ako nung una, iniisip ko baka kasalanan ko. Pero come on, pinag mamalaki pa nilang Gorilla glass yung flagship phones nila. Pag mga gasgas siguro baka akuhin ko pa. I think sa upper right lang ng phone yung na post kong pic, pero all four corners may ganyang issue. ang hirap lang kuhaan ng pic, kasi need na makatyempo with proper lighting to see it. nilagyan ko pa yan ng nanotech liquid bago ko ipa warranty, baka sakaling maremedyo, pero after a few wipes, lumabas pa din issue sa screen.
Hi anyone knows the cost of lcd and glass replacement of note 8? My wife's phone accidentally dropped in a bad way and glass wa broken and the lcd at the bottom part has black smudges na.
@Pryor Thanks sa info sir. Nakakahassle lang tlga kasi need dalhin sa service center, ang hirap kc wala ako time para dalhin sa kanila to have this repaired. Pagsasawaan ko na lang siguro muna before ko parepair. Salamat sa mga info sir.
@techwar when was your wife's note 8 purchased? double check niyo nga if qualified kayo for the samsung note 8 concierge service. From what i know, regardless if accidental or not yung pag break ng screen/lcd, covered yan ng one time free screen replacement. Need lang purchased before November 30, 2017 yung unit. Paki google na lang yung samsung concierge, or better yet call them to check if you're qualified. Sayang din yung gastos mo pang replace ng screen.
@jahy_m same ba tayo ng issue ng screen? meron din pala parang circular na oil blot sa center ng screen ko before. Not noticeable pag naka on yung screen, pero pag naka off na screen, nakaka hinayang na ng pera.
I recommend pa warranty mo na yan. I remember before yung note 5 ko, yung bubble sa top left ng screen, known issue naman siya pero yung service center pini pin nila yung blame sa user. February 2017 yung end of warranty ko, kaya inisip ko January 2017 ko na lang ipa-warranty. Pag punta ko sa service center sa SM mall dito, sabi nila dati daw covered siya ng warranty, pero nag memo na daw si Samsung last December 2016, na yung bubble, hindi na daw covered. Sabi pa ng technician, dami daw S6 na may same issue na tinangihan nila dahil sa memo ni Samsung. Pumunta ako sa isang service center dito sa Baguio, ang sabi naman nila kasalanan ko daw kasi baka nabasa ko or may pumasok na moisture, eh napaka alaga ko naman sa phone.
To make the story short, pa warranty mo na habang maaga pa, mahirap nang mahanapan ka pa ng butas at ikaw pa sisihin para di ka maka claim ng warranty.
@techwar huhuhu sorry 6months lang pala coverage ng samsung concierge, so kahit assume pa natin na november 30, 2017 nabili yung phone, hangang May 31, 2017 lang yung free one time replacement.
